| SLEEP SPACE (2004-2005) 500 VINYL STICKERS Sleep Space was initiated to call attention to the way that public spaces function in an urban environment, specifically, in downtown New York. Many locations in this area are regularly used for shelter by the city's homeless population, yet their status as such is often denied or erased by city cleanup crews who move "transients" along and tear down temporary structures. The Sleep Space sticker was placed in locations where I observed or found traces of use as a place for rest. Many of the stickers were removed within days of being placed. |
